Lean To Shed Programs – 3 Factors To Construct A Lean To Shed

For a fellow like me, who isn’t the most convenient when it comes to do it yourself projects, lean to shed plans are vital because with them even I can build a respectable lean to shed and at an exceedingly reasonable cost.  In this post I look at the 3 reasons why a lean to shed might be just the thing for you.

Reason 1 – Cost

The first thing to recollect is that your lean to shed only really has three sides, so it is going to be cheaper than a regular four sided shed.  The usages to which you put your lean to shed like providing a shelter for livestock or storing firewood means you don’t have to be too worried about how aesthetically pleasing it is.

For this reason you may use free lumber and used lumber as the cattle certainly will not mind.  And the natural in built ventilation because of the three sides means that you’ll help stop disease spreading from animal to animal and if you are using it for firewood storage or seasoning then your firewood will dry out quicker.

Reason 2 – You have two selections of lean to shed.

You may have your lean to shed leaning up against a building like your house, in which case you’ll be more concerned about how it appears to be, or you can have it free standing for the protection of animals where you’ve no such concerns.

Reason 3 – Free and Recycled Materials

In many instances you can use free or recycled materials and lumber scattered around.  You can even use pallets for your floor just to be sure that whatever you are storing is kept off the ground and dry.  With the free standing one in a field for livestock you don’t need to be too concerned about the floor. I am sure the stock won’t mind either.

These are examples of the factors to consider when thinking about building a lean to shed and you will need to get yourself a set of lean to shed plans and consider all the other issues also.

Taking Back Your Old Den

It has been many years. The children are all grown up. They have residences and families of their own. All those years of fatherhood are about to pay off. Many years ago, you had a room that you could call your own. It was a sanctuary. Finally, you get your old study back. Here are tips to help you, in your transformation.

You can remove the old loft bed and any other beds. There is no longer a need for them. Take them to the attic or sell them. It is time to remove all the art and posters from the walls. This may be a bit sad. Take some pictures or videos, first. This will allow you to keep all of those special memories. You may find a few surprises under those stickers and posters. You might be patching holes and covering crayon art. You might need to strip the walls.

Do you want to save a lot of labor? Consider installing paneling on the walls. You will not have to prepare the walls for paneling. It may also give your study a cozy feeling. If you wish, you can prepare the walls and paint them. Make it any color that you like.

What shape is the floor? Will it last a few years? Maybe it is time for new flooring. Carpet works well for dens. It may not cost much to carpet a small room. Carpet remnants are an excellent choice. They are often very good quality for considerably less price. Carpet with padding already attached, is also available. Put it down with glue or a staple gun.

You might consider replacing all of the switches and electrical outlets. They get a lot of use and abuse in children rooms. By replacing them now, you may save yourself trouble, later. Will you need cable TV? Maybe you will need phone lines or Internet cable. Take care of that first, before you do much to the room.

A desk and couch will be a good choice for den furniture. Keep that old quilt set from the bunk beds. Store it in the closet. You may use the room for guest or grandchildren at a future time.

Where do you keep all of your tools? Your new room can be a good place to store many of your tools. You can stack your toolboxes in there. Get large tool cabinets and you can store many tools. You can keep your Husqvarna chainsaw in there, also.

Final thoughts

Are you getting your study back? Take your time and fix it the way you want it. Make sure that you have phone and electronic lines run first. Replace things that may be worn, like electric outlets. Consider any storage that you need, also.
